Your quote about ‘Jesting Pilate” is very apt.
It refers to when Jesus had been arrested & was in front of the local Roman Governor.
Pontius Pilate knew that Jesus was innocent & ‘jested’ (took the mickey) with the Jewish authorities who had arrested him.
He said he could find ‘no wrong with this man’ & he ‘washed his hands’ of the judgement.
Yet he still condemned Jesus to be crucified.
Of course he did.
Pontius Pilate worked for the Romans & they wanted to be rid of Jesus. So did the Jewish authorities & priests.
Vanessa Baraitser, the judge in Julian’s trial will of course condemn Julian. She works with the Americans.
A personal thought. I always says that Jesus was a man.
If people are waiting for ‘The Second Coming’, then unfortunately this ‘person’ has come into our lives many times. He is crucified every time he/she comes.
…For the same reason – …for challenging the ‘system’ & vested interest.
