Samata Angel, Vivienne Westwood, and Suzy Amis Cameron

If budding, eco-minded designers need another reason to enter the fourth Red Carpet Green Dress competition, ELLE.com has exclusively learned that Vivienne Westwood will be a mentor to the winner. Additionally, she will act as a judge along with a prestigious panel that includes Suzy Amis Cameron (founder of RCGD and co-founder of the MUSE School CA), Lewis Perkins (of Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute), and Zem Joaquin (founder and CEO of Ecofabulous.com). The group will choose from gown sketches to pick an up-and-comer to create a sustainable dress that will be worn by a to-be-annouced celebrity at the 2013 Oscars. Westwood will help the designer execute his or her vision.

“We are at war with our environment and our future is unsteady,” said Westwood. “In order for a shift to occur we must make informed decisions to live more harmoniously with our planet, and I’ve joined Red Carpet Green Dress because its message aligns with this idea.”

  2. Dear Alexandr
I received you comment today and have passed it on to the contest organizers. I’m not sure but I hope they will get back to you about the deadline.

  3. Hello, Vivienne. I had met you in Perú, and i gave you my personal card. I´m a designer and i use recycled materials to do my creations. I wish i could show you my work, but i don´t know where to send it. It is possible to get your email, so i could send pictures. I want to know what do you think of it.
It was very nice to know you… i wrote about that experience in my blog, http://www.revistann.com/get-a-life-vivienne-westwood-en-peru/
Thank you for being part of the change, to create better people, people who cares..

  4. Dear Vivienne,
Thankyou for your letter of 1/12/2010. It’s taken me two years to reply but i feel it’s fate that I just found your letter at the right moment!
As i told you, i have bipolar disorder, & have gone through three months of manic hell. During this time, I had a seizure on Clapham High St. & woke up in Kings four days later with no recollection of anything! They treated me for alchoholism although i have not had a drink problem for twenty years……… I left hospital weighing 6 stone 4, shaking like a leaf, hardly able to talk (I had bitten my tongue during the fit) or walk & had completely lost my memory. The medication, to which i am allergic, started a hypo manic crisis, & the events that followed, even i can’t believe, now that i’m better!
A couple of crack heads who i would normally never let into my flat, offered to take care of me. In my confused state it seemed like a good idea………..They proceeded to empty my bank account of over five grand, stole four mobiles (including two new ones which Nicola Goozey signed for as they were delivered by courier!)and bullied & terrorised me.
The police were useless. They got my keys back & evicted them from the flat that they had stolen from a very vulnerable alchoholic, after much hasstling from me.They told me that it was my fault that i had given my card & pin to Nicky to do shopping & collect her wages….. They made me search for her round all the crack houses & begging spots, to get a confession.
My friend Rambo found her begging & said “Where are our ‘phones? she replied “I signed for um & left um on the stairs”.
This was good enough for the police & they refused to arrest her. They probably use Sean & Nicky as informants….
I have a lot of free time & would love to get involved in fundraising for the rainforrest scheme. Please let me know how i can help.
    Best wishes Kat xxxxx

  5. Hullo again Vivienne,
I have just remembered (my memory is dreadful since the siezure but i have suddenly become an expert with technology after being a tecnophobe for years!) I have had a good idea for a set of cosmetics that i would like to run past you. I also have experience in putting on benefit gigs & know many musicians.
I live opposite the Buddhist centre, really near you. Pop round for a carrot & ginger juice.
    Kat xx

  6. Hi Vivienne, i told my 35 year old key worker (A man who just happened to go to the same school as me, years later………)that i had contacted you regarding your fund raising for the rain forest. I told him to check out your web site as it would teach him something. He didn’t and contacted my psyciatrist to tell him that i’d gone mad & thought i might do some fund raising for your cause! My psyciatrist, & other professionals (all men!) all contacted me wanting appointments NOW!!!
