fracking-kills

On Tuesday  23rd June Vivienne will join the protest against an upcoming decision on 26th June by the Lancaster County Council on whether or not to approve two of the biggest fracking tests ever contemplated in the UK. If allowed to happen, each site would have 4 horizontal wells, producing tens of millions of gallons and radioactive and toxic waste and opening the door to thousands more wells to be drilled across Lancashire and the rest of the UK.

The rally is supported by local politicians, environmental campaigners, and Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, 38 degrees, Frack Off, Reclaim the Power, This changes Everything and Frack-Free Lancashire and will take place from 5-7 pm, 5 minutes’ walk from Preston station.

Please join us in standing up against political decision making in the name of big business, in the ongoing and more important than ever fight against a profit over people economy, the destruction of our natural environment, and the myth proclaimed by the oil and gas industry that fracking is safe.

Fracking pollutes drinking water and destroys the national habitat by putting toxic chemicals into the ground. We must fight for a quick end of fossil fuels extraction and consumption, not by the end of the century, as suggested by the G7 summit this month, but phase them out as soon as possible. What the world needs is a sustainable Green Economy and a real commitment by us all to think and act towards this life saving goal.
