Vivienne-Westwood-Xmas
We’ve been very busy in these last days before the Christmas break: putting together the Gold Label collection and moving ahead with our Cool Earth fundraising work. The campaign has really been gathering momentum since its launch at the end of November. As well as raising money, we can see that Cool Earth’s profile is now more prominent than before. Raising public awareness of the urgent need to save the Rainforest is really important if we want to achieve our goals.

Our friend, Daniel Lismore, had a party for Cool Earth last week at Whisky Mist in London – I think we were all amazed at how much money was raised and how many people wrote us letters of support. Building public awareness like this is definitely the first step we have to take if we want to save the planet!

I think you can also see from the comments on this website the good work that is being done by our followers like James Emmett, Kyle Nash-Baker, Sammy Varnham and even 13 year old George Jibson (sorry if I left anyone out!) to spread the word and support Cool Earth. The faster we can get the word out the more chance we have of success!

This morning I did a photo shoot and interview on climate change for the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar (it will be out in early February) with models from the Storm agency – we are so grateful for all the help and on-going support Storm are giving us with our project. I was also really pleased to spend time with the models: Lily Donaldson, Poppy Delivigne, Jaquetta Wheeler, Sadie Frost, Paul Sculfor and Max Rogers. I knew Jaquetta and Sadie already; they all looked wonderful but I was impressed by how interested they are in our work and how willing they all are to help us.

On Thursday, we’re off to a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office to talk about the Rainforest and climate change – we’ll let you know what happens in the New Year.

Finally, I’ve just sent a Christmas card to Sandy and James Lovelock (who spend the winter in the US) and also want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  2. Happy Christmas Vivienne and all the team!

I was sad to miss the Cool Earth party but had to work. For my mother this Christmas I bought a fantastic book called ‘Practical Self Sufficiency – The complete guide to sustainable living’ by Dick and James Strawbridge – that immediatly made me think of you, Vivienne. It is a wonderful book I am thinking of buying a copy for myself too – that shows the many ways in which we can lead a rich life, without sucking up all the earths energy. It is available on Amazon. book store. Wishing you a lovely Christmas
    Hope to see you soon

  3. Hello Vivienne, thank you so much for the Christmas card,Family tree poster and badges it was such a lovley surprise, we were soo excited and we will treasure them. I have to write about a Christmas experience including my feelings and the feelings of others as homework for my teacher, so I am going to write all about your card and active resistance because I would like all my class to know about the rainforest and climate change and how I feel, I am hoping that my teacher will be interested and tell the whole school and maybe try and get involved in some way, maybe the Prime Minister should get all schools and children invovled because he might be surprised how much children do care when they are told the real facts.
